Minister Tajani’s meeting with unions at the Farnesina on strengthening Public Administration

As part of the strategy to strengthen foreign policy instruments at the service of the country -from a greater presence in international organizations and countries of greatest interest, to the protection of compatriots abroad, to the internationalization of businesses- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani met today, together with Minister of Public Administration Paolo Zangrillo, with unions representing Ministry of Foreign Affairs employees.

Minister Tajani outlined the contents of the measure converting Decree Law 44/2023, currently under consideration by the Senate of the Republic and Chamber of Deputies, on strengthening the capacity of public administrations, confirming the government’s focus on allocating adequate human and financial resources to ensure a stronger and more effective foreign policy. To this end, an informal Table for the sharing of reforms has been established, in which priority issues for the entire Public Administration, such as services to citizens, lifelong learning, personnel recruitment procedures, and the enhancement of merit and professionalism are being explored.

These measures follow up on measures taken at the instigation of Minister Tajani in recent months, starting with the increase in contract employees serving in foreign offices and new staff units in Rome, then destined to serve in the diplomatic-consular network, and the strengthening of security measures in the foreign network, including through the deployment of Carabinieri in diplomatic offices.

On these issues, Minister Tajani reiterated his and the Administration’s full readiness for constant dialogue with labour organizations.
