Participation of the Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, in the naming of Buildings B and C of the Salerno Court and in the 53rd edition of the Giffoni Film Festival

The Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, will travel to Salerno tomorrow for the naming ceremony of the buildings housing the city’s civil and criminal courts, respectively, to Diego Tajani and Alfredo de Marsico, distinguished jurists and former Ministers of Justice.

Minister Tajani will then move on to Postiglione, where he will be granted honorary citizenship by Mayor Carmine Cennamo, before attending the 53rd edition of the Giffoni Film Festival, a historic event dedicated to children’s and young people’s cinema.

The visit to the Salerno Judicial Citadel will be an opportunity to reaffirm the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ strong commitment to the close cooperation with the judiciary and the Italian Ministry of Justice for the development of an effective judicial diplomacy. Action in this regard is being developed through bilateral and multilateral activities, collaborations and negotiations on the issues of combating drug trafficking, corruption, money laundering and trafficking, as well as on judicial assistance, extradition and the transfer of detainees. This joint action, which proves to be a fundamental component of our foreign policy, especially on the issues of technical assistance to third countries on the fight against mafias, makes use of periodic coordination such as the inter-institutional anti-corruption table and the fundamental role of magistrates in missions abroad.

At the Giffoni Film Festival 2023, whose motto “Indispensable” seeks to recognise the role of young people in building a sustainable future, Deputy Prime Minister Tajani will be engaged in interactive sessions with the many young people participating in the Festival’s juries on topics related to global challenges and expectations for the future, as well as in presentations of innovative start-ups from the Giffoni Innovation Hub and visits to Giffoni’s creative worksite, including Cittadella del Cinema and the Multimedia Valley. This will further consolidate the collaboration already underway with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which, in the context of the priority given to effective cultural diplomacy, aims at supporting the Giffoni Film Festival’s vocation for internationalisation.
