Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs Maria Tripodi held talks today with Filip Tosevski, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia. The meeting, which took place via videoconference, took stock of the excellent bilateral cooperation and looked forward to further strengthening the economic and trade partnership, on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations.
The Undersecretary reaffirmed the importance of the political, economic and cultural relations between Rome and Skopje, witnessed by the intense and constant political dialogue between Italy and North Macedonia.
Tripodi then highlighted with satisfaction the resilience of the economic and trade ties between Rome and Skopje, and stressed the strategic role of the great Corridor VIII infrastructure project, which will foster the European integration of the region, to whose realisation the two governments are strongly committed.
Finally, Tripodi recalled Rome’s candidacy to host World Expo 2030, and hoped for North Macedonia’s support at the vote on 28 November, also in view of their common membership of NATO and full sharing of European values.
