Expo Osaka. Italy is the first country to start work on its national pavilion

Tajani: the result of the extraordinary partnership between Italy and Japan

The foundation stone laying ceremony for the construction of the Italian Pavilion will be held on 19 December on the artificial island of Yumeshima in Osaka Bay, the site of the upcoming 2025 Osaka World Expo.

Italy is the first country, among the approximately 160 participants, to start work on its Pavilion, and the only one that will be able to start construction as early as 2023.

“With the ceremony of laying the foundation stone”, said Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani, “Italy is the first country to start work on Expo Osaka 2025. This is a very important result, achieved thanks to the extraordinary partnership between Italy and Japan”.

“The Italian Pavilion will be an exceptional instrument of growth diplomacy, a strategy that I have activated since the beginning of my mandate”, added the Deputy Prime Minister, “which aims at promoting tourism, support the internationalisation of our companies and attract investment by enhancing our innovation and high technology”.

The ceremony on 19 December will be held in the presence of Osaka Governor Yoshimura and Expo Secretary-General Ishige. Italy will be represented at the event by the Commissioner General for EXPO 2025 Mario Vattani.
