Deputy Minister Cirielli’s meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Jan Marian

This morning at the Foreign Ministry, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Edmondo Cirielli, received the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Jan Marian.

The cordial meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the Ministerial Meeting of the “Friends of the Western Balkans” group, provided an opportunity to verify the excellent state of bilateral relations and the prospects for further strengthening them, both politically and economically. The topics discussed included the stepping up of the fruitful coordination between Italy and the Czech Republic on the common, firm support for Ukraine. The latest developments in the Caucasus and in the Sahel regions were also discussed, and there was convergence on the need to preserve dialogue with the transition governments in Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger, thus confirming the broad agreement existing between Italy and the Czech Republic on the main foreign policy issues.

Today’s meeting comes two months after the official visit to Rome of the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel.
