The Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Maria Tripodi, today received the Minister of State for Europe and Climate of the German Federal Foreign Ministry, Anna Lührmann. The talks focused on bilateral relations, the implementation of the Italian-German Action Plan for enhanced cooperation, and the priorities of the Italian G7 Presidency.
As Undersecretary Tripodi emphasised, the close cooperation between Italy and Germany is based on very close economic and industrial relations, lively cultural exchanges and broad convergence on the main international dossiers and the European agenda. The intense dialogue between Italy and Germany is bound to strengthen and expand in the framework of the Italian-German Action Plan signed by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz at the last Intergovernmental Summit held in November 2023.
Undersecretary Tripodi also emphasised that Italy’s G7 Presidency aims to build the conditions for a new fair and non-predatory partnership between Europe and Africa, aimed to promote common, sustainable and lasting development in the political, economic, social, cultural and security spheres, also to tackle the root causes of migration.
