The Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Maria Tripodi, attended the event held in Palazzo Doria Pamphilj for the 150th anniversary of Italian immigration to Brazil.
In her greeting to the participants, Undersecretary Tripodi recalled the close friendship between Italy and Brazil, grounded on strong historical and cultural ties. She also stressed the fundamental contribution of the Italian community in Brazil, which includes 700,000 registered citizens and over 30 million people of Italian descent. The Undersecretary reaffirmed the importance of collaboration between Italy and the South American countries, in which Brazil plays a fundamental role and ranks among our main partners. In particular this year, with Italy’s G7 and Brazil’s G20 presidencies, the two countries will work together closely to address the major global challenges.
