Within the framework of his mission to Romania, the Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, met today in Bucharest with the President of Romania, Klauss Iohannis.
Tajani stressed that “relations between Italy and Romania have made a decisive qualitative leap with the 3rd intergovernmental summit held in Rome on 15 February”, during which a Joint Declaration on the Strengthening of the Strategic Partnership and seven other documents including Memorandums, technical understandings and letters of intent in various sectors were signed.
“There is great potential to further strengthen our economic-commercial relations in strategic sectors such as energy, infrastructure, defence, space, digitalisation and agriculture”, added Tajani, who emphasised the “important historical-cultural ties nurtured by the presence of over 1 million Romanians in Italy and the approximately 40-50 thousand Italians in Romania”.
During the meeting, the main topics of international current affairs were reviewed, with a particular focus on cooperation within the European Union and NATO.
