The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, is on a mission to Belgium to take part in the States General of Italy in Brussels. The event brings together Italian officials, representatives of the economic world, the media, and all the representatives of the Italian Economic System in Belgium.
“The aim of the event is to promote mutual understanding between officials and institutions, enhancing the role of Italian officials in relations between Italy and the EU and NATO institutions”, said Minister Tajani, thanking the Italian Embassy and Representations in Brussels for having “worked, with dedication to make this day possible”.
The States General will open with Tajani’s greeting, followed by the speeches of the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, Francesco Lollobrigida, the Minister for European Affairs, Southern Italy, Cohesion Policy and the NRRP, Raffele Fitto, and the Minister for Public Administration, Paolo Zangrillo.
Three working sessions will follow, to address the issues of competitiveness and economic growth, European defence and security, and the Italian government’s geographical priorities, with a focus on the Balkans, the Mediterranean, and Africa.
Among others, the European Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs, Paolo Gentiloni, the President of the Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee of the Italian Senate, Stefania Craxi, and the President of the Foreign and Community Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, Giulio Tremonti, will take part in the event.
“The government aims to offer an opportunity for a constructive meeting and dialogue on the basis of a positive agenda focused on priority issues for the country and for the European Union”, said Tajani, recalling “the importance of teaming up and working as a system, in the primary interest of Italian citizens and Europe as a whole, as shown by Italy’s recent negotiating success in the regulation on packaging”.
