Uruguay, Undersecretary Tripodi met the Italian-Uruguayan Chamber of Commerce and visits the Italian school

The Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Maria Tripodi, continued the system mission in Latin America, stopping in Uruguay. A country with over 140,000 resident compatriots and one and a half million Italian descendants.

At the residence of the Italian Ambassador in Montevideo, the Undersecretary met with representatives of the Italian-Uruguayan Chamber of Commerce and the business community, emphasising the Italian government’s concrete closeness and the projects implemented by the Foreign Ministry in the year of Italian roots in the world.

Accompanied by Ambassador Fabrizio Petri, the Undersecretary then visited the Scuola Italiana Paritaria. This historic and prestigious institute, founded in 1886, now has 700 pupils and boasts a centuries-old tradition of excellence in education. While praising the excellent state of bilateral relations and the huge potential, Undersecretary Tripodi said that her visit showed the central importance the government attached to the South American continent. A priority reiterated on several occasions by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.
