Undersecretary Tripodi meets UK Minister for Industry and Economic Security Alan Mak

Today, the Italian Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Maria Tripodi met with the UK Minister for Industry and Economic Security Alan Mak at the Farnesina.

The main focus of their fruitful talk was the trade-related agenda of the Italian G7 Presidency. The Undersecretary recalled Italy’s priorities for the upcoming G7 Trade Ministers’ Meeting in Reggio Calabria, which will be chaired by Italian Deputy Prime Minister Tajani – strengthening the trade system with the WTO at its core, State involvement in the economy – in particular with regard to subsidies and the impact on international trade – Italy’s commitment to implementing the synergy between trade and the environment, economic security, the resilience of supply chains, the focus on the Red Sea crisis and the fight against economic coercion.

Undersecretary Tripodi also highlighted Italy’s willingness to develop a process of outreach and dialogue with G20 countries and the need to expand its network of trade agreements, both to diversify sources of supply and to identify alternative export markets.
