Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani attends the presentation event for the 24th edition of the Week of the Italian Language in the World (SLIM), the leading international showcase promoting our language globally.
The event will also be attended by the Secretary General of the Farnesina, Riccardo Guariglia, Monika Schmutz Kirgöz, Swiss Ambassador to Italy, Donatella Di Pietrantonio, winner of the 2024 Strega Prize, Massimo Bray, Director General of the Treccani Institute, Adriano Monti Buzzetti, President of the Centre for Books and Reading, Fabio del Giudice, Director General of the Italian Publishers Association, Elena Pasoli, Director of the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, Silvia Tatti, President of the Association of Italianists, and Alessandro De Pedys, Director General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
Launched in 2001, the Week of the Italian Language in the World is organised annually by the diplomatic-consular network and the Italian Cultural Institutes in cooperation with traditional language promotion partners (Ministry of Education, Ministry of University and Research, Ministry of Culture, Swiss Embassy, Accademia della Crusca, Cepell, CGIE, Italian-speaking Broadcasting Community, RAI, Dante Alighieri Society, and Treccani).
In a year of particular importance for the international profile of Italian publishing – marked by Italy’s participation as Guest of Honour at the International Book Fairs in Tunis, Warsaw, and Frankfurt – the 2024 edition will focus on the theme “Italian and Books: The World Between the Lines”.
