As part of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Tajani’s mission to Argentina, Undersecretary of State Giorgio Silli spoke today at the annual meeting of the Consejo Empresarial de America Latina (CEAL) – an organisation that brings together the leading entrepreneurs and businesspeople from South and Central America – held in Buenos Aires from 8 to 10 October 2024.
“I am here today to celebrate the deep ties that unite Italy and the region of Latin America and the Caribbean,” said Silli in his speech, adding that, “the relaunch of all-round relations with Latin America and the Caribbean is one of the most relevant points on the Italian Government’s international agenda and is supported in a structured manner by ‘growth diplomacy’, coordinated by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and aimed at increasing the presence of the Italian business world abroad and fostering synergies and virtuous collaborations on an international scale.”
The Undersecretary also emphasised how the “countries of the Latin American and Caribbean regions are key partners for Italy – and not only as of today – and with them we share values and interests, nurtured by deep historical, political, social, economic and cultural ties, strengthened by the presence of numerous Italian communities in Latin America and esteemed Latin American communities in Italy. What binds us is an all-round strategic partnership, rooted in the past, but which finds new impetus in the present, especially in its economic-commercial dimension.”
The Undersecretary concluded by emphasising that between Italy, its production system and the Latin American area, “there is a solid partnership, which at the same time still has immense potential and room for collaboration in different sectors, from the most traditional to the most innovative, such as digital transition, energy transition, environmental protection and circular economy, fight against climate change, and healthcare.”
