A meeting took place yesterday in Rome between Italian Deputy Minister Edmondo Cirielli and UK Minister for European Union Relations Nick Thomas-Symonds.
The focus of the talks was the deepening of relations between the European Union and the United Kingdom. As already recalled by Italian Prime Minister Meloni in her recent meeting with UK Prime Minister Starmer, Italy intends to support the United Kingdom in achieving closer cooperation with the EU, which cannot be separated from the compliance with and full implementation of the understandings that govern post-Brexit relations.
In this context, Deputy Minister Cirielli expressed satisfaction with the excellent state of bilateral relations, pointing out that the protection of the rights of the large Italian community in the UK and of Italian economic operators, who are central to the strength and depth of Italy’s relationship with London, is a priority. The Deputy Minister also highlighted the importance of the exchanges between Italy and the United Kingdom on the crucial issues related to the European Neighbourhood.
