Mission of Deputy Minister Cirielli to Japan concluded: agenda focused on bilateral issues and space sector collaboration

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Edmondo Cirielli, concluded today a detailed mission to Japan, which took place from 11 to 13 December.

Together with the State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hisayuki Fujii, Cirielli reiterated the excellent state of bilateral relations, the strength of the Strategic Partnership launched in January 2023, and the strong prospects in the economic-commercial, industrial, and technological fields. They also confirmed the broad convergence on major international issues, such as Ukraine, the Middle East, and Africa, which make Japan a key partner for Italy in the Indo-Pacific region.

In connection with the celebrations for National Space Day, the Deputy Minister confirmed with the Deputy Minister for Space Policies, Kiyoto Tsuji, the important collaboration in the space sector and the desire to further strengthen the partnership in this area. Cirielli also took part in the celebrations for National Space Day, coordinated by the Embassy in Tokyo as part of the Italy Innovation Days.

During the visit, the Deputy Minister also inaugurated the Italian pavilion at SEMICON JAPAN 2024, the largest semiconductor industry event in Japan, where Italian Trade Agency is hosting six companies.
