Malta – Undersecretary Silli attends the 31st OSCE Ministerial Council

Italian Undersecretary of State to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Internation Cooperation Giorgio Silli attended, on behalf of Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani, the 31st Ministerial Council of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) – an annual event that gathers the Foreign Ministers of the 57 OSCE participating States and 11 partner countries – which was held in Malta today.

“Italy reaffirms its continued support for Ukraine and the strongest condemnation of Russia’s war of aggression,” said Silli, who recalled the central position assigned to Kiev also during the G7 Presidency, and reminded that the Ukraine Recovery Conference will be held in Rome next July.

“Italy is strongly committed to safeguarding the OSCE, which is one of the pillars of the European security order: it is necessary that the organisation’s founding principles, institutions and missions on the ground, which carry out important initiatives in the field of security, be preserved,” added the Undersecretary.

On the sidelines of the Ministerial Council, Undersecretary Silli took part in an event dedicated to gender equality promoted by the Maltese Presidency, during which he reiterated Italy’s full support for the OSCE Action Plan for Gender Equality.
