The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Edmondo Cirielli, today received the Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Republic of Moldova, Alexei Buzu, at the Farnesina for discussions that reaffirmed the excellent state of relations between the two countries.
Talks focused on key issues on the bilateral agenda, particularly the projects launched by Italian Development Cooperation to support Moldova’s energy resilience and security in the challenging context of the crisis following the non-renewal of the gas transit agreement between Russia and Ukraine last December.
“Moldova is a friendly country that we strongly support and with which we share deep cultural ties, as demonstrated by the presence of the largest Moldovan community in Europe here in Italy,” commented Deputy Minister Cirielli, who also emphasised Italy’s firm support for Moldova’s efforts to join the European Union.
