The second meeting of the “Neapolis 2500” National Committee was held today at the Foreign Ministry, aimed at fine-tuning the guidelines for activities and analysing in operational terms some initiatives already identified to put Naples at the centre of national, European and international attention.
The Committee agreed to hold regular sessions and to rapidly draw up a programme of initiatives to be concentrated in a defined time interval, in view of increasing their impact also in terms of international resonance. The commitment to maximum cooperation with all local bodies was also confirmed, starting with the Municipality of Naples, involving the artistic, academic and production sectors as much as possible in order to best represent the city’s articulate socio-cultural, economic and creative reality.
The meeting was chaired by the Prefect of Naples, Michele Di Bari, and attended by the six members appointed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture, namely Pupi Avati, Lucio D’Alessandro, Pasquale Ferrara, Salvatore Longobardi, Maria Luisa Faraone Mennella and Gennaro Sangiuliano.
The Committee was set up to mark the 2500th anniversary of the founding of Naples, with a view to recalling its history, rich cultural tradition and great future prospects. The first meeting took place at the Foreign Ministry on 21 January and was chaired by Minister Tajani.
