As part of the humanitarian interventions for Syria announced by the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, during his visit to Damascus on 10 January, €4.5 million has been allocated for emergency initiatives.
These interventions will target the most urgent and essential sectors, supporting humanitarian assistance activities in the hospital and healthcare sector, critical infrastructure (water and health), and strengthening the resilience of food supply chains to assist the most vulnerable segments of the population.
This initiative follows an initial humanitarian shipment of medicines and medical supplies, which departed from the UNHRD base in Brindisi at the end of January and is currently being distributed.
