Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani attends today in Verona the opening ceremony of the fourth Let EXPO – Logistics Eco Transport, Italy’s reference Fair for transport, logistics and business services, organised by ALIS (Sustainable Intermodal Logistics Association) in cooperation with Veronafiere.
Italy boasts important logistics infrastructure (62 ports, 24 interports, 39 airports) and a strategic position for European trade. It is crossed by four of the nine corridors of the trans-European network (Baltic-Adriatic, Scandinavian-Mediterranean, Rhine-Alpine, Mediterranean) and is part of the IMEC corridor (the so-called ‘Cotton Road’), an economic-logistics infrastructure between Europe, the Arabian Peninsula and South Asia. As part of its growth diplomacy strategy, the Foreign Ministry supports and promotes the strengthening of Italy’s logistics connections with the rest of the world, with a particular focus on the Alpine passes, the Balkans and the wider Mediterranean.
The logistics sector plays a key role for Italy’s economy and the growth of its exports. According to estimates by the Contract Logistics Observatory of the Milan Polytechnic, in 2024 the turnover of the contract logistics sector was in fact worth EUR 117.8 billion (up 1.7% compared to 2023).
The Fair hosts 400 exhibitors, with an expected attendance of around 100,000 visitors.
