Undersecretary Tripodi speaks in Naples at the opening day of the Mediterranean Tourism Exchange

Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs Maria Tripodi took part in the XXVIII edition of the Mediterranean Tourism Exchange in Naples today, organised by Federalberghi Terme.

“Tourism is one of the pillars of the Italian economy, not only for its contribution in terms of GDP and employment, but also for the key role it plays in promoting our country’s image in the world”, Tripodi said.

“Through the diplomacy of growth, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs supports the sector with concrete projects aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of our companies and protecting Italian products on international markets, favouring the attraction of investments, employment, and promoting a model of sustainable and innovative development”.

According to the latest data released by ENIT, in 2024 tourism accounted for 10.8% of GDP and 13% of employment in Italy, with a growing projection for the years to come also thanks to the commitment of the Government and the action of our diplomatic-consular network and the Italian Cultural Institutes, in synergy with the trade associations. On the sidelines, the Undersecretary, accompanied by the Secretary General of the Consular Corps of Naples Mariano Bruno, visited the various exhibition stands, interacting with the operators.
