Undersecretary Tripodi met with UK Minister of State for Trade Bryant

The Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs Maria Tripodi, met with UK Minister of State for Trade Chris Bryant today in London. During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the excellent state of bilateral relations, based on a solid convergence of political, economic, and security interests.

The focus was on economic security, with particular attention to critical raw materials and economic and trade cooperation. The United Kingdom continues to be a market of primary importance for Italian companies and a preferred destination for investment. The Undersecretary emphasized that the presence of over 2,000 Italian companies in the UK, active in strategic sectors such as energy, infrastructure, transportation, manufacturing, and pharmaceuticals, is an important component of the country’s economic fabric.

Bilateral trade between Italy and the United Kingdom reached €34.4 billion in 2025, with a strongly positive trade balance for Italy, amounting to €19.4 billion. In 2024, Italian foreign direct investment (FDI) in the United Kingdom amounted to €49.9 billion, while British FDI in Italy stood at €45.8 billion.
