Preliminary approval of the Decree on the reorganisation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Council of Ministers has today approved, in preliminary examination, the Decree of the President of the Republic containing amendments to the organisational regulation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The measure, promoted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, aims to adapt the structure of the Italian Foreign Ministry to the challenges arising from the current international context, focusing on five key areas: (1) improving coordination of Italy’s political projection actions; (2) increasing focus on the priority mandate of supporting businesses and exports; (3) enhancing cybersecurity and technological innovation; (4) placing greater emphasis on service-oriented functions for citizens and businesses, also through administrative simplification; and (5) enhancing and training human resources.

The Decree will enter into force after obtaining the opinion of the Council of State and parliamentary committees, the final approval of the Council of Ministers, and registration with the Court of Auditors.
