The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, today inaugurates the Fifth Edition of the States-General of the Italian Language in the World, taking place at the MAXXI Auditorium in Rome.

The States-General represents the foremost institutional event dedicated to the promotion and dissemination of the Italian language worldwide. This year’s edition focuses on the creation of a Community of Italian-speaking Nations, a project that will be at the heart of the upcoming International Conference on Italian Language scheduled for this autumn.

The proceedings will open with a message from the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, and will continue with contributions from prominent institutional and cultural figures. The event serves as an important opportunity for collective reflection on the role of the Italian language as a tool for dialogue, cohesion, and international cooperation.

As part of the strategy to promote the Italian language globally, the first Conference of Italian Schools Abroad – “Growing Up in Italian” – was held on 14 April, with the participation of over 200 representatives from Italian educational institutions abroad and from the Italian Education System in the World (SFIM).
