Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, will represent the Government on 25 April at 10:30 a.m. during the Liberation Day celebrations, attending the Fosse Ardeatine to honour the 355 victims of the Nazi-Fascist massacre. At 12:30 p.m., Minister Tajani will also pay tribute to Don Giuseppe Morosini at the Church of Sant’Ippolito in Ferentino (FR), a military chaplain who joined the anti-Nazi resistance after 8 September. Don Morosini was executed by firing squad on 3 April 1944 at Forte Bravetta by Italian forces. While imprisoned at Regina Coeli, he was brutally tortured but refused to betray any of his contacts within the Roman resistance. Ten out of the twelve members of the firing squad deliberately shot into the air, avoiding hitting him; Don Morosini was ultimately killed by two pistol shots fired by the Fascist officer leading the group.
