Visit of Deputy Minister Cirielli to Malta

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Edmondo Cirielli, concluded a mission to Valletta today, where he met with the Maltese Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Ian Borg.

During the discussions, the excellent state of bilateral relations was reaffirmed. Italy and Malta share strong historical, cultural and commercial ties, increasingly strengthened by their common belonging to the Mediterranean dimension of the European Union. In this context, Deputy Minister Cirielli confirmed the existence of close alignment between the two countries on all major European and international issues.

The mission concluded with an exchange of views with representatives of the Italian economic system and of the local Italian community, including members of the business sector, followed by celebrations marking the Maltese leg of the “Mediterranean Tour” of the Italian Navy’s training ship “Amerigo Vespucci”, in the presence of Minister Borg, other senior government officials and members of the accredited diplomatic corps.
