Today, at the International High-Level Training Centre for the Prevention and Fight against Organised Crime in Caserta, the conference entitled “Culture of Legality and Public-Private Partnerships for the Social Inclusion of Inmates: The Province of Caserta as a New Model for International Development” was held. The event was organised by the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI), based in Turin, in collaboration with the Asi Ce Foundation Ets. Representing the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation was Deputy Minister Edmondo Cirielli.
The event, held with the support of the United Nations, aimed to examine the prisoner education model promoted in Italian prisons by the Asi Foundation, which has shown strong potential in preventing reoffending. This is thanks to the integration of social inclusion pathways and work-based reintegration programmes, including initiatives for public benefit.
“The culture of legality is fostered through concrete tools for social inclusion, as seen in the province of Caserta, which stands as an area of symbolic importance. It demonstrates how our regions can become centres of social innovation, legality, and development, and therefore serve as successful models to be replicated internationally. These are models that combine justice, economic growth, and security under the banner of Italian excellence”, said Cirielli in his concluding remarks at the conference.
