Deputy Minister Cirielli’s mission to Lithuania

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Edmondo Cirielli, continued his mission to Northern Europe in Lithuania, accompanied by the Minister for Enterprises and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso.

The Deputy Minister first met with his counterpart, Julius Pranevičius, before joining Minister Urso for a meeting with the Lithuanian Prime Minister, Gintautas Paluckas. Both meetings offered an opportunity to consolidate the already excellent bilateral relations following the most recent meeting in Rome between the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, and the President of the Republic of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda, on 4 March.

The open and constructive dialogue with Lithuanian counterparts enabled the strengthening of political and economic partnerships, including in the fields of defence industry and space cooperation. Discussions also covered key current international issues, starting with developments related to the conflict in Ukraine, the evolution of transatlantic relations, EU enlargement, and relations with the Caucasus and Central Asia.

“I am very satisfied with the work carried out here in Vilnius. Lithuania is a strategic partner for Italy, and we must seize the significant opportunities for bilateral cooperation across all areas,” commented the Deputy Minister.
