This evening Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani had a new telephone conversation with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot.
The conversation focused on military operations between Iran and Israel and on the possibility of quickly building a political and diplomatic path that would put an end to the war, also to avoid a dangerous escalation in the region. Ministers Tajani and Barrot exchanged ideas on the possibility of holding a meeting of the European Union Foreign Affairs Council soon and evaluated the possible mediation channels that could be opened in these hours by various protagonists in the region.
The two Ministers also discussed the need for the European Union to be involved from the very beginning of a possible negotiation phase.
Italy and France will also maintain close coordination to assist in every way their citizens present both in Iran and in Israel and in other countries in the region.
