The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Edmondo Cirielli, attended the Federvini General Assembly held today in Rome. The event was also attended by the Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, and the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty, and Forestry, Francesco Lollobrigida.
In his speech, the Deputy Minister spoke of the far-reaching commitment undertaken by the Italian Foreign Ministry to support the internationalisation of Italian companies and to protect exports, in line with the Plan for Italian exports around the world launched by Minister Tajani. The wine sector plays an important role, as Italy is the second wine exporting country in the world, with a constantly expanding volume in both mature and emerging markets.
Finally, Mr. Cirielli stressed the importance of the work carried out in multilateral contexts by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to protect the sector, starting with the process for the Fourth High-level Meeting of the UN on the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases, recalling how wine is an integral part of Italy’s food and wine tradition, the Mediterranean diet and, above all, Italian cultural heritage.
