As part of the cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Justice regarding disputed minors, three Italian girls who had been missing for several years, abducted and taken illegally to Spain, Hungary and Germany, respectively, have finally been found.
From the beginning, the competent Embassies, in close coordination with the Foreign Ministry’s Unit for the Protection of Italians Abroad, had taken action to provide assistance to the Italian parents, maintaining close contact with their respective lawyers and raising awareness among local authorities on the importance of finding the minors.
All three cases had been addressed on various occasions by the Disputed Minors Task Force, an inter-Ministerial working group chaired by the Foreign Ministry to ensure the unity of government’s action in a sensitive and complex matter such as that of disputed minors.
Minister Tajani said: “I am very glad that these cases have been resolved positively. I wish these girls and their parents to find some serenity”. The Minister also thanked the law enforcement agencies for the important cooperation activity carried out at European level, thanks to which it was possible to locate the three minors.
