Tajani and Goyal bring together Italian and Indian businesses in Brescia

Following their visit to A2A, Ministers Tajani and Goyal opened the business forum at the Museo di Santa Giulia to focus on the most promising areas for the development of bilateral economic cooperation.

The choice of Brescia as the location for the meeting also reflects the strong trade ties between Lombardy and India, which recorded growth of over 10% in the past year. 40% of total trade between Italy and India passes through the region.

In line with the similar event held in New Delhi in April, the bilateral business forum in Brescia brought together more than 400 participants from companies, institutions and trade associations, to explore opportunities in four key areas: Industry 4.0; transport; energy transition and circular economy; and space. The programme also included B2B sessions, with around 170 meetings between Italian and Indian companies.

During the event, the central importance of the India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) project was acknowledged for developing infrastructure, energy and digital connectivity between Europe and India, as well as the importance of concluding an EU–India free trade agreement as soon as possible.
