Tajani meets with Luxembourg’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Xavier Bettel

The Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, met today with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Luxembourg, Xavier Bettel.

The meeting between Ministers Tajani and Bettel first of all highlighted the excellent state of political, economic, and scientific cooperation between Italy and Luxembourg, as well as the shared intention to further strengthen collaboration between businesses in the two countries.

During the meeting, Minister Tajani and Minister Bettel agreed on the importance of preserving and consolidating transatlantic relations, sharing the belief that only a united West will enable our countries to overcome the current challenges. They confirmed the determination of the two governments to enhance dialogue with the United States administration by pursuing a policy of continuous cooperation between the United States and Europe. They also emphasised the priority to be given to developing the European pillar of NATO and European security in light of the changing international context.

The two Ministers recalled the importance of continuing to support the European Commission’s negotiations with Washington in order to reach a trade agreement that will strengthen exchanges and overcome existing barriers.

Ministers Tajani and Bettel also discussed the situation in the Middle East, underlining their support for the two Peoples, two States solution and their commitment to alleviating the suffering of civilians in Gaza.
