Summoning of the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Italy

At the instruction of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Rome, Aleksey Paramonov, was summoned today to the Farnesina to provide clarification regarding the publication, on the website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, of statements deemed “Russophobic” attributed to the Head of State and senior officials of the Italian Republic.

In reiterating the importance of mutual respect for Italian institutions within the framework of bilateral diplomatic relations, it was underlined that, while Italy firmly condemns Russia’s unacceptable aggression against Ukraine, no hostile intent has ever been expressed towards the Russian Federation or its people.
