From Jordan, new convoys of food aid for Gaza under the “Food for Gaza” initiative

As part of the Italian Government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening humanitarian assistance for the population of Gaza, and within the framework of the diplomatic efforts led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Tajani to ensure access to essential goods in the Strip, the World Food Programme (WFP) has organised new convoys of food supplies made available through the Italian initiative “Food for Gaza”.

These new convoys consist of an additional 700 tonnes of flour sourced from Jordanian territory, which are expected to be delivered to the Gaza Strip by the end of this week. This latest shipment adds to the 800 tonnes already distributed by the WFP in recent days and will be complemented by a further 450 tonnes of flour, whose procurement and transfer to Gaza will continue starting next week.

The convoys that departed today from Jordan under the “Food for Gaza” programme are part of the broader effort that the WFP, with the support of Italy, is undertaking to provide assistance to over one million Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip.
