Deputy Foreign Minister Cirielli at the second and final day of the Ukraine Recovery Conference

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Edmondo Cirielli, addressed the plenary assembly to officially close the Ukraine Recovery Conference, co-organized by Italy and Ukraine.

The Deputy Minister reaffirmed Italy’s staunch support for Ukraine. “We have demonstrated that investing in security means leaving no one behind. As Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni stated yesterday, Italy has supported Ukraine from day one of the Russian invasion and will continue to do so.”

Today, Deputy Minister Cirielli spoke at the thematic panel on sustainable cities, together with Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Kuleba, and concluded the panel on healthcare cooperation opened by Minister of Health Schillaci.

On the sidelines of the Conference, Deputy Minister Cirielli signed – on behalf of Italy – a Declaration of Intent, with Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates, on technical cooperation to strengthen Ukraine’s institutional capacity, and two Joint Declarations with the Emirates, one on cooperation to support minors affected by the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine and the other on support for strategic agri-food chains in Africa.

Again on the sidelines of the Conference, Deputy Minister Cirielli held bilateral meetings with the Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan and the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Qatar. He also met with the authorities of Norway, Romania, and Poland. Finally, among numerous meetings with international organizations and local authorities, he held an exchange of views with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi.
