Today’s meeting of the Farnesina Tariff Task Force to update businesses on the EU-USA Joint Tariff Declaration

Following today’s agreement on the Joint Declaration between the European Union and the United States regarding tariffs, which follows the political understanding reached by President Ursula von der Leyen and President Donald Trump on 27 July, the Tariff Task Force of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, under the direction of Minister Antonio Tajani, will meet today at 18:00.

The meeting will provide a detailed update to representatives of various business associations, addressing the implications of the agreement for Italy’s most strategic sectors, including automobiles, pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, and timber.

“The tariff agreement is an important step in providing stability to trade exchanges and to our strategic industries”, stated Minister Tajani. “Italy has always supported a constructive approach in transatlantic dialogue, for the benefit of businesses, workers, and sustainable growth”.

“Today, at the Tariff Task Force meeting,” the Minister continued, “we will discuss in detail the contents of the Joint Declaration and its implications for all the stakeholders involved”.

“This is not the end, but a first step toward cooperation that will extend over time to new sectors and strengthen the economic and strategic alliance between the two sides of the Atlantic”, concluded the Minister.
