The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, is in Paris today to participate in a Ministerial-level Meeting on the Implementation of the U.S. Peace Plan.
The meeting brings together the E4 countries (Italy, France, Germany and the United Kingdom), the Arab Quartet (Egypt, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Qatar), as well as Indonesia, Turkey, Spain, Canada, and the European Union.
Building on the outcomes achieved in New York during the Conference on the two-state solution, the meeting aims to agree on joint actions to provide concrete support to the U.S. Peace Plan, reinforcing the mediation efforts led by the United States, Qatar, and Egypt, following yesterday’s significant development in which Israel and Hamas signed the first phase of the Peace Plan.
The meeting also provides an opportunity to reaffirm Italy’s commitment to the implementation of the Peace Plan presented by President Trump, and to a credible political framework for ending the war in Gaza, through an immediate ceasefire, the release of hostages, and comprehensive humanitarian assistance in the Gaza Strip. “Italy intends to contribute to the future governance and security arrangements in Gaza, working on the disarmament of Hamas and participating in the stabilisation and reconstruction of the Gaza Strip. Our objective is to support the two-state solution, laying the foundations for the establishment of a future Palestinian state that can coexist in peace and security with Israel,” the Minister declared.
Among the items on the agenda are updates on the ceasefire and the release of hostages following the agreement reached in Sharm el-Sheikh, as well as discussions on the timing and modalities for implementing the subsequent phases of the Trump Peace Plan.
