Tajani lands in Paris for meeting on Gaza

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, has arrived in Paris to attend the ministerial meeting on the implementation of the US peace plan. The Paris meeting coincides with the session of the Israeli Government convened to formally consider the agreement reached last night in Sharm el-Sheikh, which is expected to pave the way for the entry into force of the ceasefire in Gaza and for the partial withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Strip along the agreed line.

Minister Tajani, together with his E4 counterparts (Italy, France, Germany and the United Kingdom), representatives of the Arab Quintet (Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Qatar) and other international partners, will discuss today the next steps towards implementing President Trump’s peace plan.
Five key areas will be at the core of the discussions: 1) governance of Gaza; 2) disarmament of Hamas; 3) stabilisation of the Strip; 5) reconstruction; 6) the role of the United Nations.
