Deputy Minister Cirielli meets the French Minister Delegate for Francophonie

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Edmondo Cirielli, met today with Éléonore Caroit, France’s Minister Delegate for Francophonie, International Partnerships and French Nationals Abroad.

During their meeting, the two Deputy Ministers reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening the Italian–French partnership in the field of development cooperation.

Global health within multilateral fora was also a central focus of the discussion, an area in which Rome and Paris are united in their aim to further consolidate their partnership, including through enhanced engagement with the private sector. Particular attention was devoted to ongoing efforts to support the strengthening of African health systems, the prevention and control of infectious diseases, and the role of major multilateral organisations in improving health preparedness and resilience in partner countries. Deputy Minister Cirielli illustrated the framework of the Mattei Plan for Africa, emphasising its complementarity with the broader European strategy.

Another area of convergence concerned cooperation within CIHEAM, where Italy and France intend to continue promoting joint projects to support agricultural development, food security and technical–scientific training across the wider Mediterranean region.
