Launch of the Institute for Training and Research on UN Agency Issues

Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Maria Tripodi, took part today in the launch event of the Institute for Training and Research on UN Agency Issues (IF&RUN ETS), hosted at the Istituto dell’Enciclopedia Italiana Treccani.

In her remarks, she emphasised that the event marked the beginning of the Institute’s operational activities. Established last year, IF&RUN ETS is already working to build a solid territorial network through regional offices and the participation of thirteen universities.

IF&RUN ETS serves as an independent platform for training and research on issues relating to UN agencies, with a particular focus on education, peace, sustainability and international cooperation. Tripodi highlighted that the Institute’s mission is to strengthen dialogue among UN agencies, universities, institutions and local communities, while enhancing the contribution of scientific knowledge and civil society.

She also recalled the Italian Foreign Ministry’s ongoing commitment to multilateralism, especially in the fields of health, energy and climate transition, protection of cultural heritage, education and science diplomacy, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and internationally recognised integrated approaches. In conclusion, she noted that initiatives such as IF&RUN ETS “contribute to a more inclusive multilateralism, grounded in knowledge, shared responsibility and tangible impact, with particular attention to the engagement of younger generations”.
