Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani will speak today at 3:00 PM at the opening plenary session entitled “The Great Family of Italian Development Cooperation – Teaming Up Together,” followed by a panel discussion on “Italy and the Major Humanitarian Crises.”
The session, introduced by journalist Giorgia Cardinaletti, will provide an opportunity to present the Italian development cooperation system through the story of an Italy that builds partnerships, promotes sustainable growth, and strengthens dialogue with partner countries, both in Africa and around the world. This shared commitment involves public administrations, local authorities, universities and research centres, civil society organizations, the private sector, and international organizations, thus contributing to strengthening Italy’s external action and the country’s ability to respond to major global challenges.
The session dedicated to humanitarian emergencies will explore the topics of food security, health, training, humanitarian demining, and crisis management, with particular attention to the operational role and contribution of professionals working in the field. Several initiatives of the Italian Cooperation will also be presented, including “Food for Gaza,” “Italy for Sudan,” and its action in Ukraine.
The Conference will also be attended by Deputy Minister Edmondo Cirielli, Ministers of Health Orazio Schillaci and Agriculture Francesco Lollobrigida, representatives of civil society organizations, international organizations, academia, the private sector, and prominent figures from the worlds of culture, sport, and entertainment.
The “COOPERA” works will continue tomorrow, May 27, with additional sessions dedicated to discussing the major global challenges of our time, such as education and training, as well as the cooperation effort under the Mattei Plan.
