Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani took part at the Foreign Ministry in the event for launching the third edition of the project “Made in Italy Sport and Innovation”.
The project aims to promote the excellence and quality of the Italian sports industry worldwide through major sporting events hosted in our country. Sport is currently a strategic sector for Italy’s economy, with approximately €32 billion in added value, equal to almost 1.5% of GDP, and exports exceeding €4.7 billion.
After Minister Tajani’s introductory remarks, speakers included Matteo Zoppas, President of the Italian Trade Agency (ITA), Marco Mezzaroma, President of Sport e Salute, Luciano Buonfiglio, President of CONI, and Marco Giunio De Sanctis, President of the Italian Paralympic Committee (CIP). This were followed by remarks from FIDAL President Stefano Mei, FIN President Paolo Barelli, and FITP President Angelo Binaghi.
Sports champions representing each Federation also participated.
Minister Tajani concluded the event by appointing the Ambassadors of Sports Diplomacy, representatives of the sports world who demonstrate Italian excellence worldwide.
