The Italian Cultural Institute of Krakow will open on 16 June the exhibition “What is Europe to you?”, a photographic narrative created by artist Lisa Borgiani, who has been visiting major European cities since 2019 asking the people she photographs a question: What is Europe to you?
Set up at the Parc Jordana, one of Kraków’s main public parks, the photographic exhibition “What is Europe to you?”, is organised by the Italian Cultural Institute, in collaboration with the cultural institution “Willa Decjusza” on behalf of the Municipality of Kraków and under the patronage of the European Commission Representation in Warsaw. The exhibition, curated by photographer Lisa Borgiani, comprises 160 photographs on 80 large panels set up outdoors in one of the areas most frequented by citizens in the summer.
The photographic narrative, already exhibited in more than 10 European cities, probes the feelings and emotions of European citizens towards the European Union and, by matching the faces of the people portrayed with their name, nationality, profession and their thoughts on Europe, it renders a fresco of ideas and opinions concerning the common European identity. The exhibition also includes four Ukrainian photographers, members of the Professional Association of Ukrainian Photographers, in the light of European support for Ukrainian defence, who portrayed citizens of Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv and Odessa.
