The Bogotá Museum of Modern Art (MAMBO), with the support of the Italian Cultural Institute of Bogotá, presents “Technologies of Care”, the first institutional anthological exhibition of the Italian artist Elisa Giardina Papa in Colombia, curated by Eugenio Viola and Juaniko Moreno.

This exhibition, open to the public until next 9 February, provides an opportunity to reflect on the impact of digital platforms and highlights the precarious ways of working associated with them, with the aim of fostering discussion on the future of technology, work and the role played by art in this equation. Giardina Papa’s works focus on the tensions generated by the new forms of work, proposed by digital economies, particularly in the global South.

Through a meta-cinematographic approach, the artist combines videographic techniques with Internet-related aesthetics, thus creating a hybrid narrative that explores how technology shapes human interactions, work and human intimacy in contemporary society.

In the work “Technologies of Care”, which gives the title to the exhibition, the artist presents a series of conversations with digital platform workers, such as an ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response) artist, a designer, customer service workers, and a fairy tale writer.

In other works created together with the “Radha May” collective or as a solo project, Elisa Giardina Papa explores the role played by women in society.
