The exhibition “FABRICA. ITALIAN TEXTILE STYLE AND INNOVATION”, promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, offers an engaging display that presents historical, technical, and productive aspects of Italian textile manufacturing to an international audience. It features modular elements with images, texts, and interactive experiences.

Conceived by CMS Cultura, designed by architect Corrado Anselmi, and curated by Giulia Fortunato, FABRICA comprises six modular structures that tell the story of textile production in Italy. The journey begins with the pivotal role of wool production and trade in the development of Florence, the intensive planting of mulberry trees to support silk manufacturing in Sforza-era Lombardy, and the splendour of Venetian satins and velvets. It then moves forward to technical fabrics and yarns designed for specific and experimental purposes, culminating in new discoveries from industrial research in the sector.

FABRICA provides an extraordinary insight into one of Italy’s most iconic industries: the textile sector. It showcases Italian textiles that are far more than just fabrics; they represent the result of a journey through history, creativity, and passion, rooted in ancient artisanal practices that have evolved into the innovative designs of today.

This exhibition also holds special significance as it marks the culmination of a year dedicated to celebrating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Italy and Indonesia.
