As part of the series of public book presentations on Italian foreign policy and international relations, the Library and the Historical Diplomatic Archive of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation are pleased to announce that on Wednesday, 26 March 2025, at 5:00 p.m., the book Carlo Galli. Italian Diplomacy and Relations Between Italy and Turkey, written by Professor Valentina Sommella, a lecturer in the History of International Relations at the University of Perugia, will be presented in the Aldo Moro Room.

Carlo Galli joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1904 in the consular role and held several positions before moving to the diplomatic career, later serving as Head of Mission in Tehran, Lisbon, Belgrade, and Ankara. In tracing Galli’s experiences in the East during the 1920s and 1930s, the book provides an overview of the relations between Italy and Turkey, from the war in Libya to the death of Atatürk in 1938, the year in which Galli’s diplomatic mission in the Turkish capital also came to an end.
