The Italian Cultural Institute in Tirana presents the first stop of the exhibition “aDigital Perspective”, where ten Italian and Balkan artists redefine the relationship between visual arts and digital culture. The exhibition is open until 31 March 2025 at the GOCAT Gallery in Tirana.

“aDigital Perspective”, a project by the Italian Cultural Institutes of Belgrade, Bucharest, and Tirana curated by Spazio Taverna, is a collective exhibition in which the ten artists explore the contradictions and possibilities of new technologies, using traditional and deliberately non-digital techniques.

The participating artists come from Albania, Italy, Kosovo, Romania, and Serbia and include Sanja Anđelković, Federica Di Pietrantonio, Alessandro Giannì, Laureta Hajrullahu, Ledia Kostandini, Numero Cromatico, Alice Paltrinieri, Ginevra Petrozzi, Jacopo Rinaldi, and Mădălina Zaharia.

The initiative is part of a larger cultural diplomacy project aimed at strengthening ties between Italy and the Balkan countries through contemporary art. The exhibition will travel to the cities of Tirana, Bucharest, Belgrade, and Pristina, offering a shared reflection on the future of digital technology in the artistic landscape.

“Welcoming the works of ten young artists, from Italy and the Balkans, and listening to their reflections on the relationship between art and digital technologies helps us understand the influence that these technologies have not only on creativity but also on the construction of our identity and interpersonal relationships. The exhibition aims to bring Italian and Balkan voices into a dialogue on an urgent and necessary debate to find the right balance between technical innovation and the values of humanism, which are so deeply rooted in Italian cultural tradition,” said Alessandro Ruggera, Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Tirana.

The presentation of the exhibition in Tirana is part of the ITALIA DIGITALE project, promoted by the Italian Cultural Institute and included in the programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, titled “Italian Capitals of Creativity Around the World”, which aims to present, through creativity and innovation, the new languages and expressive currents that are transforming cultural landscapes.
