The Italian Embassy in Lebanon and the Italian Cultural Institute of Beirut are presenting the exhibition “Città in Scena. Urban Regeneration: the Italian way to a sustainable future”, promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and organised by ANCE, Associazione Mecenate 90 ETS, and Fondazione Musica per Roma.
The historic Abroyan Factory in Beirut is hosting the panel exhibition, which invites reflection on Italy’s urban regeneration experiences and highlights the country’s best practices in this field, aimed at managing environmental, energy, and social transitions, as well as containing land consumption. Through these practices, abandoned spaces and buildings – both in suburban areas and historic city centres – are recovered and repurposed to meet the needs of local communities.
The initiative takes place at a crucial moment for Lebanon, where reconstruction is high on the national agenda. It is not only a cultural project, but also a tangible contribution from Italy to rethink models of growth and development, offering a platform for public debate and policy proposals, and providing replicable Italian experiences in urban and territorial planning.
