Cuba, Settimana della cultura italiana
Cuba, Settimana della cultura italiana

Organized annually by the Embassy of Italy in Havana in collaboration with the Cuban Ministry of Culture, the Oficina del Historiador de la Ciudad de La Habana and with the support of Italian and Cuban institutions and enterprises, the “Semana” is the oldest foreign cultural week on the island.

The 27th edition, held from 28 November to 6 December 2025, offered a multidisciplinary programme, with Italian literature as its central theme.

Among the authors celebrated was Eugenio Montale, marking the centenary of his Ossi di Seppia and the fiftieth anniversary of his Nobel Prize. Montale inspired the performance Sentieri, staged by Azulteatro under the direction of playwright Serena Gatti. In tribute to Italo Calvino, the eponymous prize was awarded as part of the competition active since 1996, in collaboration with the Unión de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba and the Italian association ARCI-ARCS.

Italian culture was further showcased in visual arts, with exhibitions dedicated to comics, graphic arts and emerging photography, music, with a tribute to the career of Lucia Altieri and fashion.
